The Planilum light emitting glass is truly a device of wonder, taking up to 6 years to develop by Saazs and Saint-Gobain Innovations. The driving force behind this idea is to replace lamps and dedicated lighting fixtures by integrated these panels in order to use as illumination sources, doing away with the need to actually buy light fixtures. Planilum measures a mere 0.8″ thin and is made up of 4 layers of special glass, a rare gas and serigraphed phosphors. It comes with a rating of approximately 50,000 hours of use, which translates to approximately 20 years of average use. When they die, they are 90% recyclable so you don’t have to worry about adding more burden to the environment. It isn’t available for sale yet, but hopefully when it gets there, it wouldn’t hit bank accounts too hard.

It is unfortunately that Humpty Dumpty did not have the luxury of three soldiers carrying him around, as surely the King’s horses and the King’s men won’t have the dilemma of reporting nothing but a cracked, empty shell at the palace. Created by artist Reiko Kaneko, all the soldiers here wield a knife with concentrated looks as they carry such a delicate passenger. Definitely one of the more attractive home ideas to have, especially for folks who have a sense of humor.

Whirlpool will be working with iGo in order to release a new refrigerator that features a power outlet at the top of the freezer door, enabling you to recharge your gizmos while keeping your food cold simultaneously. I guess this will come in handy only when you have actually run out of power outlets in your home, but seriously, I can’t envision that actually happening. The centralpark refrigerator from Whirlpool will retail for approximately $2,000 a pop.
