Lacoste takes Tennis to a New Level

Lacoste will be turning 75 this year, and this famous sports brand aims to be around a whole lot more by revealing a future version of the game. As you can see from the image above, the player will be wearing a facemask that allows him to see the outline of a virtual tennis court, while tech-infused clothing and player equipment look really appealing although I’m not quite sure how all these will make the game more exciting. I suppose should tennis actually evolve to such gear in the future, it won’t be so plain and simple as what it looks like since there will probably be sponsors’ images and logos making an appearance all over the place. Getting hit in the gonads with a tennis ball won’t be that excruciating an experience after all with this new tennis armor I guess.

USB Warmer/Chiller 4-Port Hub

Talk about a multi-purpose USB hub - this model not only offers you connectivity options for another four USB 2.0 devices, it also features a warmer/chiller plate that helps keep your favorite beverage hot/cold no matter what the temperature is like in the room. Definitely an office-worthy gift for a new (or leaving) colleague, and the $25 price tag certainly makes it all the more appealing. If dad happens to work from home all the time, then he would certainly do well to own one of these too.

CinemaNow brings Burn-to-DVD Movies

CinemaNow is offering burn-to-DVD movies via Windows Media Center, where this movie can later be played on virtually any DVD player (unless your disc is scratched, of course) accompanied by full remote control navigation as well as access the DVD’s special features. Burn-to-DVD movies will be priced from $9 upwards till $15 on the higher end of the spectrum, and that does not include the cost of getting your own blank DVDs as well as electricity consumed during the burning session, so you might want to add a few more cents to the equation for the true cost. How do you like the sound of that?

EarthLED EvoLux R LED Light Bulb

The EarthLED EvoLux R LED light bulb is not your grandpappy’s light bulb, as it is touted to be the “world’s most advanced light bulb.” How did it manage to arrive at such a proud conclusion? For starters, it comes with a 13 watt LED at its heart, offering an equivalent output of a 100 watt incandescent bulb, as well as the EvoDim feature which allows you to choose between three different output settings of 250, 750, and 950 lumens respectively, all without the need for a dedicated dimmer switch. These light bulbs will probably grace the homes of well-lined pockets considering the $100 price tag attached to each, and the company claims that the price works out to under $6 annually before it gives up the ghost. Non-dimmable versions go for $80 a pop.

RM-mp1 Media Remote Control

I must say the RM-mp1 media remote control looks more like a stylish cell phone at first glance, but this wireless device doesn’t do phone calls. Instead, it is meant to allow you to wield your slideshows with impunity, featuring a touch pad mouse, a laser pointer, relevant multimedia buttons and a wireless USB receiver that makes it possible to walk all over the stage without losing control of your slideshow. In addition to presentation slides, the RM-mp1 is also a nifty media center remote that will definitely find a spot in any worthy living room. No idea on pricing or availability, but it will come in either black or white colors.

Qualcomm Pushes IMOD Technology

Qualcomm is prepping itself to promote a new display technology known as reflective interferometric modulation (IMOD), but such a long name could get in the way of its popularity which is why Qualcomm has decided to go ahead and market it as Mirasol. IMOD displays will share many a quality with OLED displays such as low power consumption, visibility in outdoor lighting, and no backlighting requirement, so it will be interesting to see which technology emerges triumphant in the end. For those itching to get their hands on a Mirasol display, the 0.9″ Mirasol screen will debut in an upcoming Freestyle Audio player.

Our Lady of the Trunk

Talk about a truly creative name - the Our Lady of the Trunk device is one system that could potentially help prevent unwanted accidents on the road, especially when backing out and failing to detect a child or pedestrian just walking right in your blind spot. This device requires just two wires for installation, where the speaker is attached inside the trunk. When the reverse gear is selected, a loud and assertive feminine voice will announce in a 100dB voice, telling all and sundry to make way as though the Queen of England herself is walking through. While the spoken language of Our Lady of the Trunk is in English, the instructions that accompany this $10 kit comes in 3 different languages.
